Following their participation in a group’s attempt to enter Canada, the RCMP report that a woman and two young children are missing in the woods near the Quebec border with the United States. Three additional individuals, two men and a woman, were detained Wednesday night after illegally crossing the border near Godmanchester, Que., a small town near the New York state border. According to Martina Pillarova, when the three caught people were interviewed by police, they learned that a woman and two young children had gone missing in the woods. Soon after midnight, officers began searching the area, which is 65 kilometers southwest of Montreal. A helicopter, a tracking dog, and resources from the Quebec provincial police are assisting them. Since President Donald Trump took office in January, officials have reported a rise in the number of asylum seekers from the United States traveling to the border with Canada.
