Mark Carney to run in Ottawa riding in federal election

Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney will run in the Ottawa riding of Nepean in the upcoming federal election.
On the eve of an anticipated election call, the Liberal Party made the announcement in a social media post Saturday night. We are thrilled to announce that Mark Carney, our Leader, will run for Nepean in the upcoming election. The post said, “We will work together to make Canada even stronger.” Global News has learned that Canada’s next federal election will be held on April 28. Carney is expected to visit Governor-General Mary Simon later on Sunday to kick off the official election campaign.Carney lives in Ottawa’s New Edinburgh neighbourhood, which is in the Ottawa-Vanier riding.The seat in Nepean is currently held by Liberal MP Chandra Ayra.
The Liberal Party withdrew Arya’s nomination earlier this week without providing any explanation. He was also barred from running in the Liberal leadership race in January.
Barbara Bal, a candidate for the Conservative Party, is up against Carney. Bal is a former public safety professional and a Royal Canadian Artillery reserve member. The New Democratic Party had not nominated a candidate for Nepean as of March 21.
