PAKISTAN : History is being made in the Anglican Communion. I warmly welcome the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as Archbishop of Canterbury. I join with Anglicans around the world in warmest Conratulatig to the Most Reverend Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of London on her groundbreaking appointment as the first female 106th Archbishop of Canterbury and will be the first woman to serve in this role in more than 1,400 years of church history. The Co-Chair Pakistan, International Religious Freedom Roundtable for Pakistan (IRF Pakistan) and the Chairman, Interfaith Commission for Peace & Harmony (ICPH), led by His Eminence Ambassador at Large for global Peace and Human Rights Imam Allama Ahsan Siddiqui.

This historic milestone marks a significant step forward for the Church of England and the global Anglican Communion. As the spiritual leader of more than 85 million Anglicans worldwide, Archbishop Mullally will play a crucial role in fostering unity and addressing pressing issues, including safeguarding and theological divides.

Grace and blessings and my warmest congratulations to her, her husband, Eamonn, and their family, and to the Church of England and our Anglican Communion, this is a significant and honorable achievement for the Anglican Communion. May her leadership be guided by wisdom,compassion, and faith as she navigates the challenges and opportunities ahead.
