In Canada, Toyota is recalling approximately 32,000 vehicles due to problems with some models’ rear-view displays, which the company and regulators fear could make driving more dangerous. In September, the business recalled 70,000 vehicles due to screen display issues. “Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing,” Transport Canada said in a statement.
According to Toyota Canada’s statement and the Transport Canada recall notice, this issue could increase the likelihood of a collision involving a person in the passenger seat. The recall affects some Toyota SUV and pickup truck models equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display, which the company says will need a free software update to fix.According to a statement from the automaker, the software-related issues with the centre display in the affected vehicles could mean some users will at times see a distorted “half green, full green, or full black screen.” Toyota adds that the vehicle may not meet federal safety standards if this occurs while it is being reversed. The Toyota Sequoia from 2023 to 2025, as well as the Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid from 2022 to 2025, are all affected models. By “late November 2025,” according to Toyota, affected owners will receive written notices instructing them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for the software fix. Last month, the company issued a recall for more than 70,000 vehicles in Canada for software-related issues with the instrument panel on more than a dozen models.
