On behalf of the Shia Muslim Council and our entire community, we utterly condemn the horrific suicide bombing that struck the Khadijah al-Kubra Mosque in the Tarlai Kalan area of Islamabad during Friday (Jumu’ah) prayers on 6 February 2026. This senseless act of violence, claiming the lives of at least 31 innocent worshippers and injuring more than 169 others — is an atrocity that grieves us all and shakes the conscience of humanity.
Mosques are sanctuaries of peace and reflection; to target worshippers in the act of prayer is to attack the very fabric of our faith and community. We mourn deeply with the families who lost loved ones and pray for the swift recovery of the injured. Our thoughts and duʿās are with every victim affected by this tragic event.
We call upon the Government of Pakistan and relevant security agencies to bring those responsible to justice without delay. This attack highlights a critical need for improved protection of citizens, especially religious and ethnic minorities, from extremist violence. All Pakistani communities, regardless of belief, deserve safety and freedom to practice their faith without fear.
In these difficult hours, we ask our community and the larger society to stand united against terrorism and hatred. We urge all to reject violence and uphold the dignity of human life. May Allah (SWT) grant mercy to the departed, heal the wounded, and fortify the hearts of the bereaved. Ameen.
